Project Experience: Recreation

Below is a list of our Recreation Projects:

PROJECT: Moccasin Slough Park
CLIENT: Clay County Parks and Recreation
LOCATION: Clay County, Florida

ERS conducted an on-site wildlife and listed flora survey on the 255-acre Moccasin Slough site.  Prior to all field work, available databases were consulted for known occurrences of protected species through our Geographical Information System (GIS). Following the assessment, ERS prepared a summary report in a Florida Natural Areas Inventory (FNAI) format.

PROJECT: Alpine Groves Park (formerly known as St. Johns River Park)
CLIENT: HDR/Landers Atkins
LOCATION: St. Johns County

ERS assisted St. Johns County in securing a Florida Communities Trust Grant by preparing an overview of all on-site habitats and assessing the site for presence or potential presence of protected species. Following Grant approval, ERS assisted project engineers with project permitting efforts. ERS delineated all on-site wetlands and surface waters, secured agency confirmation of wetland lines and prepared St. Johns River Water Management District  (SJRWMD) and U.S. Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) permit application documentation. ERS developed a wetland enhancement plan that proved to be instrumental in acquiring SJRWMD and USACE permits.

PROJECT: Camp Chowenwa
CLIENT: Clay County Parks and Recreation
LOCATION: Clay County, Florida

ERS assessed protected species occurrence on the 155-acre Camp Chowenwa site for Clay County Parks and Recreation.  A summary report was prepared and presented in the Florida Natural Areas Inventory (FNAI) format.

PROJECT: Cecil Field Equestrian Center
CLIENT: Graham, Smith & Partners
LOCATION: Duval County, Florida

ERS conducted Wildlife and Habitat Assessment on the 288-acre Cecil Field Equestrian Center Site.  ERS also conducted a wetland impact study on the utility corridor that crosses the Equestrian Center property.

PROJECT: Southeast Intracoastal Waterway Park
CLIENT: HDR/Landers Atkins
LOCATION: St. Johns County, Florida

ERS flagged jurisdictional wetlands in order to facilitate site planning for this recreational park.

PROJECT: Northeast Park
CLIENT: AECOM, Inc,
LOCATION: St. Johns County, Florida

ERS flagged jurisdictional wetlands at this 138-acre site.  We also prepared the paperwork necessary for obtaining COE and SJRWMD wetland impact permits.  Significantly, the negotiated mitigation included preservation of on-site wetlands only.

PROJECT: Flora Parke Recreation Complex
CLIENT: SEDA Construction Company
LOCATION: Nassau County, Florida

ERS prepared the ERP application and an RAI response for the multi-use recreational facility.  A key in obtaining the permits to impact wetlands was designing the sports field to accommodate soccer, football, and baseball, thereby minimizing the amount of land needed.

PROJECT: Ringhaven Park
CLIENT: Prosser Hallock, Inc.
LOCATION: Duval County, Florida

ERS assessed this 500-acre site for the occurrence and distribution of wetlands and protected species, and the implications of these natural resources on development of the property.  The assessment was used in developing a site plan which minimized wetland impacts.  We also prepared the wetlands related portions of the joint ERP application.

PROJECT: Moultrie Bluffs Park, Vail Point Park
CLIENT: St. Johns County Recreation and Parks Department
LOCATION: St. Johns County, Florida

ERS assisted in procuring permits to place Gabion mesh wall and Reno mattresses in wetlands as a means of stabilizing 20’-25’ high bluffs on the 23-acre park site.
